This Mayan wedding ceremony at the cenote was so real that, in the beginning, I had some difficulties to keep taking pictures: the only thing I wanted at that moment, was to listen Shaman’s ritual. While Erik was taking some photos from the surface of the water, I was walking around the cenote looking for the best spots and angles to document this very intimate and original wedding ceremony. Finaly, Erik joined me on the ground where we took some more romantic and candid shots in the jungle. After that the underwater wedding photo session begun. By that time Shaman was gone and we were alone with newlyweds in the middle of the jungle in a fresh and clear water of the cenote. Erik was taking creative underwater bride and groom’s pictures and I directing them and helping with poses or advises on how to get the best underwater photos. Mayan wedding ritual and the inmediat underwater trash the dress in the cenote is one of our favorites combinations. It is great for small and intimate weddings in Riviera Maya as the bride and the groom can go directly for the underwater photo session after Shaman finished his oficial part of the ceremony. We are absolutely happy to share this first wedding of this year on our blog, hope you will like it!
